ABRU craft brewery is one of the newest divisions of The Aleit Group, and operates from the company’s headquarters on Lourensford Wine Estate, with a fully equipped taproom. Okay, we know what you might be thinking – starting a beer brewery on one of the most renowned wine estates in the country – crazy right?

Crazy-courageous yeah!

Listen, we are nothing if not paradoxical…that’s right paradoxical. So think “Central Perk” where friends get together, meets “Cheers” where everybody knows your name. That’s ABRU’s vibe.

This microbrewery has a very hands-on approach, and our artisan beers are as craft as it gets. You can literally see our brewers at work in their open-plan brewery & taproom…And if you sit there long enough, you might just walk away having a new brew named after you. The beers are sold at the ABRU taproom and every weekend at The Lourensford Market, open every Sunday from 10:00 – 15:00 and Friday Twilight Markets every alternating Friday of the month. Marthinus Christoffel Stander, goes by his English name, Martin, is a chef by training, and a beer disciple by calling. Martin enjoys the more masculine beers, a drink that says “grrr – man work, man make fire…man make beer.” Sometimes we hear more or less those exact words echoing between the steel tanks, but think it better not to necessarily respond…His IPA, affectionately known as Martin’s Hop Monster, and his Big Boy Porter are developing a steadfast following at the bar. Watch out for an abbey-style beer coming soon. Martin also claims to be related to the infamous bank robber Andre Stander, we are not convinced but we still ride herd on the cash register.
